Santa Coloring Pages
Santa Claus, also known as Father Christmas, Saint Nick and Kris Kringle, is the legendary gift bringer who visits on Christmas Eve. His name comes from Sinter Klaas, the Dutch name for Saint Nicholas. These free printable Santa coloring pages show him getting ready for the big night and enjoying the season. He waves in the snow, climbs into a brick chimney on a snowy rooftop, sits in his sleigh piled with presents, reads his long list and kneels to put a gift under the tree. In his workshop he paints a toy train, ties a big bow on a gift box and rolls out dough for star and round cookies.
Santa also has time for fun. He skates on a frozen pond, rides a wooden sled down a hill, throws a snowball in the yard, rings a hand bell and walks through a snowy forest at night with a lantern. At home he hangs a stocking on the fireplace, reads a book in his armchair, puts the star on top of the tree, holds a mug of hot cocoa, eats cookies with a glass of milk and smiles in front of a holly wreath with a candy cane. How to print these Santa coloring pages
Click the Download button under any picture to save it, then print it on standard letter paper. The pages are portrait and sized to fill the sheet, so pick fit to page in your print settings. Plain white paper is fine for crayons and colored pencils; light cardstock holds up better for markers and makes a sturdier holiday card.
Coloring ideas
Santa is usually shown in a red suit and hat with white fur trim and a full white beard. Many people color his belt and boots black. Give his cheeks and nose a little pink, then use bright colors for the gifts, the ornaments on the tree and the stripes on the candy cane. The night forest page looks great with a dark blue sky around the outlined stars and moon.
Who these pages are for
The simpler pages, like Santa waving, ringing his bell or holding his hot cocoa, have large open shapes that suit preschoolers and early elementary kids. The busier pages, such as the brick fireplace, the kitchen and the workbench, have more small pieces for older kids and adults who want a longer, relaxing session during the holidays. Parents and teachers can print as many copies as they need for home, a class party or a holiday break.
